busy weekend

this weekend was a full plate.  we had a couple of projects to do and a birthday party to attend.  the weather was amazing so it was nice to be out and about.

camryn was invited to attend her first party this weekend.  her buddy, tanner, turned one.  you may remember the infamous smooching incident with camryn and tanner :)  anyhow, she was the only "friend" invited to the party - the rest was family.  she was flattered.

tanner really enjoyed his cake!
isn't he adorable!
they were so sweet to invite camryn and she had a great time playing with the other kids {and took a great nap that afternoon - she was exhausted}.

onto the projects....
when we moved into our house, our dining room was painted a beautiful caramel color.  i really liked it at the time.
after living with the color for a while, i felt like the room was a dark hole.  it soaked up all of the natural light coming through the double windows.
our kitchen in our last house was a pale blue - wythe blue - to be exact. i really loved that kitchen and the color was amazing. i wanted something similar to wythe blue but less green in it.  i found it at benjamin moore.  it is called wedgewood grey and i love how it turned out.

ignore the fact that we don't have furniture in there.  that's NOT on the short list.  it will be a while before we getting dining room furniture.  in fact, i suspect that it will be full of toys before too long...

on this painting project, i used a new {to me} product.  FROG TAPE.  i had read about it on some other blogs and decided to try it.  now, i've always been faithful to blue painter's tape.  no more...that relationship has been terminated.  meet my new love:

the lines were so crisp and perfect.  the primer and paint did not bleed under the tape.  i am in heaven.  how have i gone my whole life without knowing about this?!  my painting world has been changed forever.

btw - i was not paid to endorse benjamin moore or frog tape.  i just love the stuff and wanted to tell ya about it.

i have another project to post but haven't uploaded the pictures yet.  i'll fill you in later in the week.
hope you enjoyed your weekend!

  1. I love the blue!! I'm thinking about doing my dining room in blue, too. Good to know about Frog tape. I haven't heard of it, either! Can't wait to see your other project!
