movin' on up

friday was camryn's last day in the baby room at preschool.  on monday, she will move up to the toddler room.  it is a little bittersweet - we love her teachers.  mrs. amy, mrs. brittney and mrs. rachel have been so good to her over the last year.  it is funny to think that she's already been there a year. on june 22, 2009 we dropped our 10 week old baby off to these strangers to take care of her.  what an amazing job they have done.  we are so grateful for them and our wonderful church preschool.
on thursday, the baby room had a "farewell to our friends" party {i use the term 'party' loosely}.  everyone was asked to bring a healthy snack to share with the other classmates.  we brought grilled cheese and goldfish - camryn's favorite things - cheese and carbs :)
camryn before school.  we love those skinny, chicken legs in shorts.  sorry, baby.  it's genetic.
goldfish treats for our friends.  i saw the "o-FISH-ial" idea over at eighteen25.  they have the cutest ideas.
megan and gunnar will be moving up with camryn, too.
camryn and tanner having a little playtime.
megan, camryn and tanner with mrs. amy, mrs. brittney and mrs. rachel.
looks like the grilled cheese was a hit.  i used the pampered chef tool that cuts them like an 'uncrustable.' i got that thing when we got married 7 years ago and finally used it.
here's our BIG girl sleeping on her mat in the floor {with her bunny}.  no more baby bed for her at school.  but don't get any ideas, butterbean!  you'll be confined to a baby bed at home much longer!
aren't they sweet when they are quiet asleep?
watch out toddler room - there's a new crew in town.

Steeplechase 2010

we were introduced to nashville's steeplechase two years ago by amy & michael.  boy, are we ever glad they invited us.  we have quickly decided that this is one of our favorite events in middle tennessee.  last year, we didn't get to go because camryn was just a few weeks old and i was still fat &  hormonal :)

this year, we jumped right back in!  what a fun day of friends, food, horses and, um, beverages.  it is always fun getting dressed up and seeing what everyone else is wearing.
i'm not a hat girl so i had to go with the froo-froo headband.
julie and lindsay look awesome in their floppy hats!
don't the guys look spiffy, too?

and amy, as always, our party-planner, organizer, entertainer extraordinaire....the only picture i have of you...
appropriate, no?

the only downfall to this weekend is that it is always on the saturday of mother's day weekend. boo!
again, thanks gran for keeping the bean so that we could have a fun day with friends.

one year pictures

back in april, we had camryn's one year pictures made.  rachel, the photographer, was fabulous.  just had to share some of my favorite shots:
she totally looks like she's up to something in this one:
pondering....hmmmm...what can i get into next?
i love those little teeth

don't the blue jeans make her look like such a big girl ?
our family :)

i love this one!!
if you are in the middle tennessee area and need info on a great photographer, let me know.  you will love rachel and mamma goose photography!

happy mother's day

since camryn was just a few weeks old last year at mother's day, i feel like this year is truly my first mother's day.  last year, i honestly didn't know what i had gotten myself into - how much work or how much fun this motherhood-thing would be.  i love being a mommy.  i appreciate my own mother so much more now.  i realize all of the sacrifices and hard work it takes to be a good mom - and i am glad that i have a good example to follow.
my mom gave me a wonderful gift for mother's day this year.  she kept camryn all weekend.  david and i got to spend time together.  we went to steeplechase {which is another post} with friends from college.  it was nice to have some grown-up time.  albeit a little strange not to have to go to bed listening to the hum of the baby monitor :)
thanks, mom!  i love you and hope you had a great mother's day.  camryn had fun at your house.

weekend update

if you live in an earshot of middle tennessee, you know that we got a lot of rain {emphasize A LOT}.  at our house we got about 12 inches in two days!  luckily, we are safe and dry and did not sustain any damage at our home.

here are a couple of pictures.
this one is taken out of our front window.  i wouldn't dare take my camera out in the rain :)  you can see the mud and water running down our street - like a flowing river {excuse the bulldozer - they are building houses across the street from us}.
really...our street is paved but i looks like a dirt road in the pictures

back behind our house is a walking trail with a run-off in the center.  it filled up so fast! i bet the water was 8-10 feet deep.  unbelievable!

so we spent the weekend inside...just goofing off and playing.
this next picture will be blackmail material later.  t-shirt, diaper and bunny slippers {from uncle caleb and aunt krissy for camryn's birthday}.

and lastly,
now you see it....

now you don't....

that's right!  the corner of the counter has been cleaned off because we are done with bottles.  HOORAY!  actually, hooray for regaining some counterspace.  but i must say it is a little bittersweet.  i am so glad that we do not have to wash/make bottles every night but our little Bean is turning into a toddler right before our eyes.  not only is she taking a sippy cup and walking but she is RUNNING.  she can fly through our house so fast.

hope you had a great weekend and hope it was drier than ours!
